Marijuana possession under an ounce in a vechile in california?

what is the penalty for it?
has anyone ever been charged with it?
Answer:
oh i'm sure lots of people have been charged with it over the years.

penalty is based on law, criminal history, etc.

Possession by a DRIVER is punished under Vehicle Code section 23222, subdivision (b). Possession by a PASSENGER is punished under Health and Safety Code section 11357, subdivision (b). Both offenses are misdemeanors (meaning you have a right to an attorney and a jury trial), but the maximum punishment is a $100 fine (which, with assessments, comes out close to $350). You cannot go to jail for this offense. There are LOTS of prosecutions for both offenses.

If you are under 21, conviction of either offense will result in a one year suspension of, or delay in obtaining, a driver's license. (Veh. Code sec. 13202.5)
